When school is in session, it is a very busy place from the time the doors open until the final practice or game takes place for various team or individual sports/contests. Take a minute and think about all of the different activities taking place in and around a high school during a typical day.
In the morning, the band may meet for practice while a number of different clubs meet at other areas of the campus. Students attend classes and spend time in the cafeteria during the day. When the official school day ends, more practices take place for sports and more clubs meet to take care of business or just have a good time. Schools are no longer simply places of education but have become hubs of all kinds of different activities.
Keeping track of all of these different activities can be a difficult task for any school. The school needs to know what portions of the facility are used at all times, to make sure different groups have access to the areas they need to use for their purposes. Obviously, the boy's basketball team, the girl's basketball team and the volleyball team cannot all use the same gym at the same time.
With a good school scheduling software package, groups can quickly and easily find out what part of the campus is used at various times during the day. If the gym is not being used at 4 p.m. on a certain day, a club or team can reserve it. If the gym is already booked, other arrangements can be made.
