What is Automated Scheduling?

Scheduling is an important part of business for many different companies from carpet cleaners to day spas. Most companies have a certain number of people available to provide different services to customers. A large carpet cleaning company may have 10 cleaning crews available at all times but each of these 10 cleaning crews needs to be scheduled properly. Obviously, you cannot book 12 carpet cleaning appointments at the same time.

Automation refers to the use of computers of some type to replace human operators for a specific task. True automation does not involve a person using the computer but rather the computer handling the work on its own. When considering automated scheduling, a person representing the company does not enter information into the computer for the scheduling.

If a member of the company does not input the scheduling of an appointment, who does? Software is available allowing customers to set up the appointments they need. This means, a carpet cleaning customer can look over the schedule for carpet cleaning and reserve the time he or she wants to have his or her carpets cleaned. The software makes the changes in the schedule automatically and immediately shows the new time as taken by the customer.

Some companies may have security concerns with allowing people to make appointments through a program. By using a program located on the Web on a server separate from your own computer network, your network is completely safe. If you are looking for scheduling software, you should consider automated scheduling software for your business.
