When the day-timer/day-runner was first introduced, my wife and I both purchased one to help us with our busy schedules. Everything we needed to keep track of our lives and where we had to be at any time was all written down and ready to access. These books were nice but we have found something much better--appointment software for our computers.
Before looking for appointment software, you need to first take some time and think about the process you currently use for setting up appointments. How many different people need to have schedules available? How many different areas do you need to keep track of? What kind of information do you collect from customers who want to come to your business? Would you be interested in allowing customers to make appointments themselves directly into your appointment software?
Once you have a good understanding of exactly what you need the scheduling to do, you are ready to start your search for software. Be sure to write out the aspects of scheduling you are looking for because you will probably not remember everything. You do not want to purchase a new program and then discover it does not do something you need.
I like to use the Internet to search for software, even if I do not purchase it online (although most of the time I do). Look for several programs meeting the requirements according to your list then compare the features of the programs with each other. Try to find a program that is easy to use and yet powerful enough to meet all of your needs.
