The other morning, I went to the doctor with my wife for a nice check up and a good old fashioned step on the scale (everyone's favorite part when seeing the doctor). After the appointment, it was time to step over to the receptionist's desk to schedule her next appointment. The helpful lady begins with the all too familiar question of, "When are you supposed to come back and see us?"
Next thing I know, I hear the tapping of long fingernails on the plastic keys of the keyboard. As the two ladies work together to work out the scheduling of the next appointment, I am amazed at how the sound of the fingernails on the plastic continues the whole time. I wonder, "Is the receptionist typing out a novel in a separate window while she sets up the appointment or is it just this complicated?"
Most doctors' offices use some type of appointment management software to keep track of various patients and their corresponding appointments. Some programs are easier to use for setting up appointments than others are. If you have to type and type to set up a simple appointment, maybe it is time to look for another program.
Appointment management programs exist that allow the scheduler to find an open time for an appointment with a few clicks of a button. The scheduler can make appointments for many different physicians quickly and easily. The right program will allow the scheduling of all kinds of different appointments, for anything from seasonal vaccinations to complicated surgeries in specific operating rooms and every kind of appointment in between.
